Gebo

Gebo looks like a big X. For that reason there is no way you can add an inverted meaning to it. An X is an X is either position.

As we are used to, let us look at the traditional meaning of the Rune:

Normal: A union is at hand. However, do not make this a total union, keep yourself. Let the winds of Heaven blow between you and your partner. Inverted: As we saw, this Rune is impossible to invert due to its symmetry.

This is a Rune that becomes very personal. It mentions a union. Meeting someone, in whatever way, who will have a major impact in your life. Someone that will prove a great value, provided you leave enough space for each others spirit to grow, learn from each other and be free. As Kahlil Gibran wrote, that the pillars that keep up a temple roof need to be apart exactly far enough. Too close, or too far, and the roof will fall down.

An older form of reading of Gebo shows that it used to indicate a gift from the gods to loyal followers. Something precious that comes upon the person who draws this Rune.
This goes well with Gebo's traditional meaning, because meeting someone who is special in that way is certainly a "gift from the gods".

If you remember the previous Runes that we saw, Ansuz and Raido that deal with inner and outer communication, and Kano which is the Rune for openings and awareness, then Gebo is a very sensible 'next' Rune. As soon as communication is good, and you are open for receiving, then a meet-up with something good is almost inevitable.

This is the way the Futhark works, and the seperate sets of Eight. They all follow each other. Wunjo, the last one in Freyr's Eight, builds upon the information that the previous Runes can give. But more on Wunjo on a different page.

Gebo also has a healing quality. When this Rune is pulled when you are aiming to support someone, it stands for generosity and synergy. Manifesting good luck, it creates a positive attitude to life. It stands for giving and taking in equal amounts. It empowers the Energy of Balance, heals mental and physical balance. Not only internally but also externally.

Gebo is a powerful and happy Rune. People who draw this Rune will often notice fascinating changes in their close, personal environment.
