The christian god is a poor architect

(And other gods are as well.)

Why do I make this claim?

Painting of an interpretation of the christian god
First of all, according to the big christian book of fables (a.k.a. bible), their skydaddy first created the universe. Everything in it. Galaxies, suns, moons, stars, planets, voids, the whole shebang.

Then he got to work on the earth, putting plants, animals and people and stuff down here. This whole thing took 6 days, and he had a nap after that.

Now, almost all of us accept that the universe is billions of years old, and the earth at least many, many millions of years, but let's assume the idea supported by some folks that the whole thing is a mere 6000 years old, and that people lived next to dinosaurs.

During all that time (and take your preferred time span here), mankind has managed to get to the moon. That is 384,400 km away from earth (or 238,855 miles). Plans to go to Mars have lived for decades and we're still not there.

Why would anyone in his, her or its right mind first create a universe that is insanely large and put us humans in there, while it has to know we won't go far fast.

(Infinite wisdom and things like that spring to mind regarding gods here.)

Does this make any sense? If you were going to settle somewhere, would you first make sure an entire continent is all set up before building a house where you can live?

"Here, all of this is yours. You'll never go there, but it's yours. Isn't that awesome?"
